The application period for the 69th Annual Fuji Mountain Race is
March 22, 2016 - March 24, 2016
or until the maximum number of competitors is met




The date of the race is: Friday, July 22nd 2016.

Pre-race registration must be completed on: Thursday, July 21st 2016

  1. ■Pre-Race Registration:

    When: Thursday July 21, 2016 [time TBD]
    Where: Fuji Hokuroku Park (free shuttles from Mt. Fuji station)

    There will be no registration on the day of the race. All racers must complete registration the day before the race at the aforementioned location in the aforementioned time frame. Free shuttles will be running from Mt. Fuji Station to Hokuroku Park all day.


  1. ■Opening Ceremony:
    Summit Race: 6:30 am
    Fujiyoshida City Hall Parking Lot
    5th Station Race: 8:00 am Fujiyoshida City Hall Parking Lot

  1. ■Race Start:
    Summit Race: 7:00am Fujiyoshida City Hall
    5th Station Race: 8:30am Fujiyoshida City Hall

  1. ■Closing Ceremony:
    Both Races: 2:00pm Fuji Hokuroku Park
  1. ■Course

    Summit Course: 21km // Elevation gain of approx. 3000m
    5th Station Course: 15km // Elevation gain of approx. 1480m

  1. ■Time Limit

    ○ Summit Course:
    - 5th Station by 9:20am
    - 8th Station by 11:00am
    - Summit Finish Line by 11:30

    ○ 5th Station Course:
    - Summit Finish Line by 12:00 noon

    Failure to meet the time limit for each checkpoint will require you to forfeit your time chips and bib number and descend the mountain. Time is recorded from the moment the pistol is fired at the start line. In the case of bad weather the Summit Race will be canceled at the 5th Station by 9:20am.

  1. ■Racer Qualifications

    ○ Summit Course:
    - 18 years old as of April 1 of the year you are racing
    - limited to extremely experienced athletes

    ○ 5th Station Course
    - 18 years old as of April 1 of the year you are racing

    Due to the difficulty of the race, racer applications will be closely reviewed by the local track and field association. Racers may be denied participation based on previous race times or lack of substantial experience. This is determined on a case-by-case basis. Your integrity during the application process is very much appreciated
  1. ■Recording Race Time

    Results for the race will be recorded with the aid of an RC Chip attached to each shoe.
  1. ■Registration Fee

    ○ Summit Course: ¥15,000
    ○ 5th Station Course: ¥10,000

    Fee includes:
    - Insurance
    - Bus fare down from the 5th Station to Fuji Hokuroku Park
    - Shuttle service from Fuji Hokuroku Park to Fujisan Station

    Applicants from outside of Japan must pay in cash at registration (please prepare exact change).

  1. ■Application Period

    START: 3/22 2016 (Tue)
    END: 3/24 2016 (Thu) or when the maximum number of applications have been received (50)

    Applications will only be accepted during the application period.
  1. ■Accommodations

    Racers are responsible for securing their own accommodations. A list of local accommodations will be made available shortly. We encourage all racers to secure their accommodations as soon as they have received confirmation of their participation in the race. The Fuji Mountain Race falls within the Mt. Fuji climbing season so securing accommodations in the area will be increasingly difficult the longer you wait.

  1. ■Clothing and Belongings

    2 "dropbags" will be provided to all runners
    1 will be taken to the 5th station for you to access immediately after finishing
    → small towel, jacket, cell phone, etc

    1 will be taken to Hokuroku Park for you to access once you have descended
    → large luggage, change of clothes, etc
  1. ■Race Access

    Due to parking limitations we ask all runners to arrive at Fujiyoshida City Hall by other modes of transport (taxi, hotel shuttle, bus, etc.)

    Strict enforcement will be made to those parking illegally on the streets or in non-race designated parking lots.
