| Notice to competitors in the 70th Fuji Mountain Race 2017 |
The Fuji Mountain Race extends approximately 21 km up 3000 meters of Mt. Fuji. Temperatures can decrease by 21°C from bottom to top, and oxygen pressure decreases by nearly 70%. The Fuji Mountain Race is a very severe race, and we sincerely regret to report that a fatality occurred five years ago during the 5th Station race.
Please be aware that although all necessary precautions will be taken by organizers and emergency services, medical attention may not always be readily available. We ask that all those competing in the race make sure their personal health is even better than what is required for a typical marathon: |
|
|
- Make doubly sure that your personal health is in top condition. Get a medical check-up before coming to the event, and stay at a local hotel the night before the race.
- If you aren't feeling well during the race, stop and inform the nearest staff member.
- If you are advised to retire at a checkpoint, be sure to follow the staff's instructions.
- If you observe other racers having trouble, please inform the nearest staff member.
- If you are requested by staff to give assistance, please immediately stop your race and give your full cooperation.
- Fill in the following information on the back side of your race number card:
1. Your name and birth date. 2. Name and telephone number of your emergency contact. 3. Any pre-existing medical conditions. 4. Any allergies or medications you are unable to take.
- In the case of an emergency, please contact Yumi Matson, our Coordinator for International Relations, at the emergency number printed on the back of your bib number.
Thank you for your cooperation. |
|
|
In the case that you are deemed unable to continue the race by either race judges or emergency aid staff, please immediately follow their instructions.
Please be aware that groups of lagging competitors in both the 5th Station and Summit courses may be asked to wait at certain national road crossings, particularly in front of Sengen Shrine, to let cars pass. Please follow staff instructions about when to cross.
